Toy manufacturer Lego plans to stop producing Mindstorms kits at the end of the year.

Lego, a toy business established in Denmark, has disclosed its intention to cease production of Mindstorms, a line of constructible instructional robot kits.

The Lego Mindstorms kits were first made available to the public in September of 1998.

The control hubs allowed for the robots to be programmed using a variety of different methods.

2013 was the year that saw the most recent upgrade to the basic Mindstorms product line.
